A year ago today on March 27, 2014, India was officially declared polio-free! Rotary International, together with WHO, UNICEF and the CDC launched an initiative to bring an end to poliomyelitis, a contagious viral disease that cripples and maims mostly children under the age of five. Clint Schroeder, president of Hagadone Printing Company, administered Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) drops to children in one of Delhi’s poorest slums when he volunteered with Rotary International’s “End Polio Now” India campaign in February. Those children and their families will be spared the horrors of polio, thanks to those two drops! Clint, slated as District Governor for Rotary International’s District 5000 in 2016-17, will continue to support global efforts to totally eradicate polio. That humanitarian mission ties in with Hagadone Printing Company’s support of Hawaii’s non-profit organizations throughout the year.
